Service Description

Research shows that as much as 40% of Canadians have at least 1 insomnia symptom, about 25% are dissatisfied with their sleep, and approximately 13% meet diagnostic criteria (DSM-5) for insomnia disorder. Yet the majority of people don't ask for help, or if they do, seek pharmacological interventions. There exists a highly effective cognitive-behavioural intervention (CBT-I) that specialized psychologists such as Dr. Meagan Daley can offer to insomnia sufferers. CBT-I has so much research supporting its efficacy that it is now considered the first-line treatment for insomnia (e.x., American College of Physicians, 2016 ; European Sleep Research Society, 2017). Generally speaking, this treatment is as effective as sleep medication (short-run), has fewer side effects or risks than sleep medication, and offers tools that permit clients to benefit for extended periods beyond the end of treatment. If you are concerned about your sleep, we invite you to call for a free 15-minute consultation to clarify any questions you might have about the relevance of CBT-I to your situation.
